Warrior Security, an internationally recognised private security company is keen on supporting the growth of South Sudan .
The firm set foot in Sudan in April 2008 with initial operations in Juba and has now expanded to all the 10 states, providing security management to corporate, government, humanitarian and private organisations.
“We are delighted that the independence of South Sudan has become a reality. We are keen to see that we become a key strategic partner in building the new nation,” said chief executive Tony Sugden.
Mr. Sugden, a former British Army Major said so far his firm had created over 1000 direct jobs in South Sudan, with an estimated 9,600 people indirectly benefiting from the company’s presence.
Warrior offers a range of services including alarm protection, monitoring and response as well as manned guarding.
Through its state of the art control room in Juba , the firm monitors guards, alarms, CCTV, and vehicles throughout the country.
The system allows on-line monitoring of vehicles, assets and personnel using GPRS and satellite communications.
The country is also involved in the installation of access control systems and has undertaken a number of large close circuit television projects.
Warrior Security was formed in Tanzania five years ago, amid stiff competition from an array of other large well established security companies, with the aim of improving on levels of performance throughout East Africa .
“We started in Arusha because it is central to the East Africa region,” said Mr. Sugden.
The company has expended its operations to as far as Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia and Malawi .
“We are not the biggest but there is no doubt that we are the leading provider in terms of our developmental approach, adherence to tested systems, and the use of technology,” said Mr. Sugden.
The firm operates on the motto: “Strength and Integrity” which guides staff.
“We believe this is a very important part of our culture and measure of our success. We also emphasise on the importance of being customer focussed,” said Mr. Sugden.
Warrior has a very careful selection procedure and vetting system which, according to Mr. Sugden, is something that is ignored by many companies.
The company prides itself in taking security services to a new level of professionalism.
“In additional to statutory checks such as fingerprinting we put a lot of emphasis on neighbourhood checks, both of which can very revealing,” said Mr. Sugden.
